jz3950 is intended to be a Java-based implementation of the Z39.50-1995 protocol, mainly used for information retrieval in libraries.

Currently there are not any releases and the project's overall status is far from being ranked as alpha quality. Nonetheless, if you want to get an impression, feel free to check out the source in the subversion repository.

Planned features

  • designed for parallel protocol operations (e.g. queries) as intended by "ANSI/NISO Z39.50-1995"
  • yaz-style prefix query and CQL query support
  • support for several record formats, including but not limited to MARC and MAB
